Indigenous Food Experience Planned for Fremantle’s Victoria Quay

27 October 2025

A new Indigenous food and cultural experience is planned for Victoria Quay, adding to ongoing investment in Fremantle’s waterfront and reinforcing the city’s appeal as a place to live, work and invest.

The project will be delivered by Gather Foods, an Aboriginal owned hospitality business, and will see a heritage workshop building adapted for a café, dining and cultural experience. The venue will showcase native ingredients alongside retail and event spaces, offering an experience that connects food, culture and place.

The adaptive reuse of the existing workshop will retain the character of the heritage structure while introducing contemporary hospitality facilities. Digital storytelling elements will also form part of the experience, sharing cultural narratives linked to Country and the historically significant Manjaree area.

Located within Fremantle Port, the development supports the continued activation of Victoria Quay as a destination for residents, workers and visitors. Its proximity to cruise infrastructure and the city centre positions it to contribute to year-round economic activity.

The project reflects growing confidence in Fremantle as a location for culturally led investment, supporting local employment, Indigenous enterprise and a more diverse hospitality and tourism economy.
