Major Fishing Boat Harbour upgrades
Upgrades are planned for Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour as part of a wider programme of marine infrastructure improvements funded by the State Government. A contract valued at 4.8 million dollars has been awarded to a Western Australian operator to deliver the works at both Fremantle and Woodman Point.
In Fremantle, the fixed section of Jetty 1, which has been in service for almost forty years and provides berths for up to sixteen vessels, will be replaced with a contemporary floating jetty and pen arrangement. This change is intended to improve safety, usability and long term reliability for regular harbour users.
Design work is currently in progress, with construction expected to begin later in the year and completion anticipated in 2027. The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure aims to manage the project in a way that limits disruption to activities within the harbour.
