Planning Approval Granted for Mixed-Use Development on Queen Victoria Street
Planning approval has been granted for a mixed hotel and co-living development at 50–62 Queen Victoria Street, adding to Fremantle’s growing pipeline of private sector investment.
The approved proposal allows for a six-storey building comprising a hotel component alongside co-living accommodation. In total, the development includes 83 hotel rooms and 119 co living apartments with shared amenities such as co-working spaces, communal dining areas and a rooftop terrace.
Located on a prominent corner site close to Fremantle’s city centre, the development reflects ongoing market interest in flexible accommodation models that respond to changing demand from visitors, workers and longer-stay residents. The site is currently used for commercial purposes and its redevelopment supports the gradual transition of underutilised land into higher-value urban uses.
The approval provides certainty for the proponent, with up to four years to commence substantial works. While the $55 million projects construction timing will be subject to market conditions, the decision highlights continued confidence in Fremantle as a place to invest across tourism, housing and mixed-use development.
The project forms part of broader investment activity across the city, as Fremantle continues to attract development that supports economic growth, employment and a more diverse range of accommodation options.
